2009 Awards

These awards are designed to recognize MEDA members for their constant efforts to attract new businesses, assist existing businesses, re-develop business districts, market communities, and support workforce development initiatives, tourism activities, and agricultural programs. All economic development efforts will be considered. New this year, the committee added a Regionalism Award that will recognize regional partnerships and collaborations that make an economic impact in multiple jurisdictions in the State of Maryland.

2009 Project AwardWinners

Baltimore Development Corporation Economic Development Project
Harbor East, nominated by the Baltimore Development Corporation, is a mixed-use development project made successful through long-range vision and partnerships.
   
Main Street Maryland Economic Development Redevelopment Program
Main Street Maryland, nominated by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, catalyzed economic development in the downtown business districts of 23 communities.
   
Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission Economic Development Marketing
The self-nominated Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission was recognized for their dynamic marketing and branding campaign.
   
The Fort Meade Regional Partnership Regionalism Award
The Fort Meade Regional Partnership, nominated by the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, was lauded for their support of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) consolidation in Maryland.

Richard J. Morgan, a leader in local and statewide economic development for 15 years

Renaissance Square Artists' Housing, nominated by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development
