Building Strong Neighborhoods using Economic & Community Development Strategies
MEDA 2018 Summer Conference
- This event has passed.
Join us July 25 in the Town of Elkton for the MEDA 2018 Summer Conference! This conference theme is ‘Building Strong Neighborhoods using Economic & Community Development Strategies’.
Maryland is comprised of first class, award-winning counties and cities, all of which have some very special neighborhoods that help to bring such accolades our way.
At the MEDA 2018 Summer Conference, we will highlight the basic tools and proactive measures used to foster prosperity and further livability in our neighborhoods. Hear from speakers who will discuss ways to help small business flourish and how to address our workforce’s need for expanded job creation.
The conference will be from 8 a.m to 1 p.m.
On the evening of Tuesday, July 24, MEDA Summer Conference attendees should make a reservation to stay in Elkton at the LaQuinta hotel (see link on this page. Reduced rates for Conference Attendees!) and plan to join us for a reception at 5pm of the newly opened Elk River Brewery, hosted by The Town of Elkton.
Arrive to the conference at 8am Wednesday refreshed after your pleasant stay at the hotel and plan to roll up your sleeves to learn from our experts about Neighborhood Development Strategies you can use in your community. We’ve invited the Chesapeake Basic Economic Development Course attendees to join us for the Conference, which will be part of their course experience. So why not return the favor?!
After the conference, attendees are invited to take advantage of one or two instructional options:
- Join Chesapeake Basic Economic Development Course attendees for their Entrepreneurship Class with instructor Beth Woodring. This session will take place from 1:30 – 2:30 and is free to Summer Conference attendees ONLY.
- Attend a free to conference attendees ONLY Zoom Prospector session that is a free service for mapping your properties. James Palma of Commerce will share many of the exciting capabilities of this data rich resource.
But that’s not all…
After all the instruction and information, join our Basic Course attendees, the Elkton Alliance Board and our Main Street/Neighborhood Development instructor, Amy Seitz of DHCD for a walking tour of Elkton Main Street.
So Come Early and Stay Late. Please register for the various classes/courses/conference items below!
