TEDCO’s five largest funding programs collectively resulted in $2.3 billion in economic activity and 10,400 Maryland jobs as of 2021. TEDCO has three asset classes that make equity investments in tech-enabled companies: Social Impact Funds, Seed Funds, and Venture Funds. TEDCO’s Investment Team is currently seeking a Team Portfolio Manager.

Position Summary
The Investment Team Portfolio Manager helps provides visibility into the portfolio companies for 2 purposes: Maximize the value of the portfolio company and, leverage the Maryland entrepreneurial ecosystem to accelerate the company’s growth.

Essential Job Functions

  • Team player in a key role in developing and building the culture of TEDCO Investment Funds for all the team and third parties.
  • Portfolio services – ensuring best in class support for our founders, putting in touch with key contacts, providing supplier recommendations, arranging timings, ensuring delivery, managing efficacy, developing new and beneficial supplier relationships for our portfolio founders.
  • Support in developing new, fruitful relationships for the business via ongoing networking and profiling of both individuals and business.
  • Monitors the performance of investments, providing advice on potential resources for the company
  • Provides broad support for Chief Investment Officer – i.e., attendance in calls / meetings if unavailable or to help in prioritization
  • Daily/weekly project management, status tracking and updates.
  • Ongoing support in management of relationships in each of the fund portfolios; Social Impact, Seed, and Venture Funds.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e., science, technology) is required; M.B.A. is preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years working in an early-stage venture capital firm. Startup operations or supporting growth businesses is strongly preferred.
  • Operating Partner experience as demonstrated through personal deal sheet.

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial information.
  • Decision-making skills to respond to market conditions and take decisive action when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to ensure positive interactions with co-workers, clients, and ecosystem partners.
  • Strong collaborative and teamwork skills, attention to detail and process, an ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines, preference for working in a fast-paced environment and commercial perspective on technical ideas are all highly valued.
  • Proficiency with customer relationship management tools a plus, i.e., Salesforce and HubSpot.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and relational database software (i.e., Excel and Access) a plus.

  • This position has potential for future supervisory responsibilities.
