Shalyn Boulden, Administrative Specialist, Kent County MD Economic and Tourism Development

Explain your background in economic development 
I started with Kent County Economic and Tourism Development in May of 2021, coming from a position with international sales for a large manufacturing company in Chestertown.

What are your key priorities within your current position? 
Our main focus right now is helping businesses with employee attraction and retention as well as making Kent County a preferable destination to live, work and visit.

Does one particular project spark your excitement? If so, describe it below. 
I am very interested in marketing Kent County for new businesses to come to our area.

What attributes are unique to your community?
Kent County, MD is a mostly rural area with farming, aquaculture, manufacturing and much more. It has an interesting history dating back hundreds of years.

What are your locality’s top three “selling points” for future growth?
5 sustainable communities, access to higher education and rural setting for a quiet quality of life

I was born and raised in Kent County MD and would love nothing more than to be a part of its growth.
