Bollinger Foundation Seeks Nominations for Scholarship Grants
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bollinger Foundation is now accepting nominations for its 2021 scholarship grants. The scholarship grants are presented to families who have lost a parent or guardian where the deceased or surviving parent worked or works in the field of public housing, community development, or economic development. Grants are primarily awarded for educational expenses, including educational needs, school materials, and college tuition. $4,000 is a typical grant amount for students seeking higher education. The deadline for 2021 nominations is Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Those interested in nominating an individual for a grant award can fill out a nomination form HERE.
The Bollinger Foundation is named in memory of Steve Bollinger, the Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1981-1984. He was a dedicated professional who passed away unexpectedly in 1984, leaving behind his wife and four children to deal with the financial and emotional struggles that only the loss of a parent can bring. It is in his memory that the Foundation exists and to date, has awarded $1,191,625 in scholarships, and has helped over 150 families.
Past recipients have said this about receiving a scholarship grant from the Bollinger Foundation:
“When I was only a sophomore in high school my dad passed away very suddenly. When the time came to start looking at colleges I was constantly worried about the expense. Thankfully, I received a grant from the Bollinger Foundation and it was a huge financial relief. I am so grateful for the generosity of the Bollinger Foundation, thanks to their help I had the opportunity to continue my education into college. I am now almost a senior looking to graduate in May of 2021 with a dual degree in political science and economics!”

“Once again, thank you so much for this opportunity! I’m excited to see what other things I will accomplish this year. I know that most of them would have been unattainable without your generosity.”
