Governor Moore Announces JLG Industries to Expand Operations in Frederick County

BALTIMORE, MD (February 13, 2025) — Governor Wes Moore today announced that JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corporation Business and leading global manufacturer of mobile elevating work platforms and telehandlers, will expand its operations in Maryland by opening a new satellite office and research and development facility in Frederick. The location will accommodate continued business growth, drive ongoing innovation and support the needs of team members and customers.

“Innovation drives growth in Maryland and helps keep our economy competitive. We’re thrilled that JLG Industries, which has been a great partner to Maryland for many years, has chosen our state for its new research and development facility,” said Gov. Moore. “Our administration looks forward to continuing to work with JLG Industries to create jobs and grow the economy.”

The new facility will encompass 113,000 square feet in the Riverside Research Park in the City of Frederick. After completion, the new location will be a state-of-the-art facility where JLG can develop new products and solutions in a large innovation and equipment testing area. It will also have new workspaces, with opportunities to expand in the future, and several large, flexible spaces conducive to hosting company meetings and multiple customers visiting simultaneously.

“JLG’s growth is a testament to our focus on quality, service and innovation,” said Oshkosh Executive Vice President and Access Segment President Mahesh Narang. “Our customers rely on us for purpose-built access equipment, and our new facility in Frederick reflects our commitment to purpose-built spaces that foster growth for our team members and innovation for our customers.”

To assist with project costs, the Maryland Department of Commerce is working to approve a $500,000 conditional loan through Advantage Maryland. Additionally, the Frederick County Office of Economic Development plans to cover up to $50,000 in permitting or project fees. As the project moves forward, JLG is also expected to be eligible for additional state, county and city incentives, including up to $75,000 through the City of Frederick’s Commercial & Industrial Tax Credit program.

“We’re always thrilled to see a company continuing to choose Maryland, year after year, as they grow,” said Maryland Department of Commerce Acting Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. “This is great news for our friends at JLG, great news for Frederick, and great news for Maryland.”

“Frederick County is thrilled to welcome JLG’s new research and development center to our community,” said Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater. “The company’s significant investment underscores our county’s reputation as a hub for innovation and advanced manufacturing growth. JLG’s commitment to developing cutting-edge technology aligns perfectly with our vision for this sector in Frederick County. This center will create jobs for our workforce and enhance our local economy.”

“I am thrilled that JLG has chosen to join the Frederick story by expanding its Maryland operations here in the City of Frederick at Riverside Research Park,” said Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor. “Attracting top employers like JLG means Frederick residents will have the option to live and work here in the community which is one of our top priorities.”
