Inaugural Economic Development Day in Annapolis is a success
MEDA members came together in Annapolis on Thursday, February 19, 2015, for our first ever Economic Development Day. Our guests included members of both the House of Delegates and the Senate, and MEDA was treated to a kind recognition on the Senate Floor by the Co-Chair of the Senate Protocol Committee Joanne Claybon Benson. My view from the Senate Floor can be seen in the adjoining picture.
The day was designed to allow members to network with the elected officials during a morning breakfast and noon lunch. Between these scheduled times, members booked their own meetings, visited the Senate or the House for the general sessions, and caught up with colleagues who were in town for their own events.
Over 100 members and guests attended some portion of the day, and the format allowed them time to interact and have informal conversation as well as discuss issues of interest. Valuable time spent by all.
We’d like to thank our sponsors who made this event possible. Together, they covered the cost of the meals allowing us to make this a complimentary member benefit: Comcast, Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, Frederick County Business Development & Retention, Howard County Economic Development Authority, Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development, Maryland Economic Development Corporation, and Site Resources.
We also extend our gratitude to Delegate John Cluster of Baltimore County who sponsored our use of the meeting space in the House of Delegates Building.
So, plan for next year and we’ll do it again! Thanks to all.
