MEDA Celebrates Economic Development Week in Maryland October 24 – 28
MEDA Hosts 2022 Fall Conference on Cybersecurity as Part of Economic Development Week in Maryland
BALTIMORE, MD (October 18, 2022) – The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) will celebrate the 12th annual Economic Development Week in Maryland this month. From Monday, October 24 to Friday, October 28, MEDA will join with Maryland’s economic development community to highlight statewide economic initiatives and recognize the dedicated efforts of economic developers who work to improve the state’s business and economic climate, communities, and the overall quality of life in Maryland.
“Economic Development Week in Maryland is our chance to amplify the narrative around economic development,” observed Danny Thompson, MEDA President. “Economic development is all about transforming lives. Every dollar we invest in economic development capital projects yields $1.74 in economic activity in Maryland. With those kinds of results, we in the economic development industry can have a huge impact for our communities and business environment. The quality of life improves for everyone. That’s what economic development can do.”
MEDA will host its Fall Conference as a signature event during Economic Development Week in Maryland. The 2022 MEDA Fall Conference will be held on October 25 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Maryland Innovation Center in Howard County. This year’s theme is “Cybersecurity Strategies for Success,” and will bring together cybersecurity experts as speakers and panelists to discuss the need for cybersecurity for all businesses in today’s technology-driven world. The goal of this conference is to inform, discuss, and explore the most current cybersecurity strategies, principles, and practices for businesses throughout Maryland and beyond.
In addition to this MEDA-hosted event, Maryland’s cities and counties will announce proclamations, and hold special events and workshops that highlight their programs and priorities throughout the week. A schedule of events will be updated daily on the Economic Development Week in Maryland webpage.
