Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation Celebrates Economic Development Week in Maryland

Montgomery County, Md. – The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) is celebrating Montgomery County’s vibrant business ecosystem during this year’s Economic Development Week in Maryland (EDW), Oct. 21-25. County Executive Marc Elrich and members of his executive team, MCEDC President and CEO Bill Tompkins and the MCEDC Economic Development team will visit several companies in Montgomery County this week, highlighting the significant contributions they make to the local economy. Each company will also receive a certificate recognizing their contributions.

“Economic Development Week gives us a chance to highlight the incredible diversity and strength of Montgomery County’s business community,” Elrich said. “Our businesses—large and small, from life sciences and technology to hospitality—are driving innovation, creating jobs and making significant contributions to our local economy. We’re proud to recognize their efforts and support their continued success. Montgomery County, Maryland, is a place where businesses can grow and thrive, and we’re committed to ensuring that remains true in the years ahead.”

Every year, EDW in Maryland seeks to demonstrate how economic development transforms lives in counties, cities and towns throughout Maryland. An initiative of the Maryland Economic Development Association, the events and activities hosted during the week by statewide and
county organizations are designed to increase an understanding of how economic development directly contributes to Maryland’s business climate, job retention and growth, tax base and quality of life.

“Economic Development Week in Maryland is an opportune time to celebrate Montgomery County’s unique and diverse business community and to place a spotlight on how companies create economic opportunities and jobs for our county,” Tompkins said. “They are a direct reflection of why companies choose to locate in Montgomery County, where they have access
to extensive resources and opportunities that lead to business success.”

The MCEDC team will visit companies in key industries, including several listed below:

• Oct. 21: Real Estate (In-Rel Properties, CapStar Commercial Realty Group)
• Oct. 21: Nonprofit/Defense (ESAB Corporation)
• Oct. 22: Hospitality (Donohoe Hospitality, Key Ingredients Inc., Best Western Premier, PM Hotel Group)
• Oct. 23: Life Sciences (Integrated Pharma Services, VaLogic Bio, Institute for Health Computing)
• Oct. 24: Technology (Sepio Systems, Optimal Networks Inc.)
